Where Italy Meets New York: Levante LIC

Levante LIC is owned/managed by Stella Hospitality Group (SHG), which owns also owns Enoteca LIC wine shop on Jackson Avenue and the brand-new Juliet’s Pizza with NY-style pizza slice shop nearby on Jackson Avenue, as well as Luzzo’s BK (and in LA)Caffé Vento in Manhattan.

Located a few blocks from the Court street subway station, it is not a long ride from Manhattan (no need to book flight tickets to Italy).  As we all know, France and Italy have close ties when it come to cuisine and wine thanks to the common history of the two countries.

The co-partners have a cool background–SHG co-partner Eden Tesfamariam Gaim grew up in Milan after her parents moved there from Eritrea and leverages her international background and experience to manage front of house, style and design aspects and programming tailored to the communities surrounding their venues. Her business partner Tony D’Aiuto grew up locally in the restaurant business, enjoys building the interiors of their restaurants/wine retail spaces, and uses his experience as a lawyer for all the negotiations involved in restaurants. It’s a unique partnership in the panoramic view of restaurant groups.

They chose Chef Simone Venturini, who has 22 years cumulative experience in Italy and NYC, including A Voce Columbus Circle and Sant Ambroeus, as their new chef as of late 2022. He makes most of the pastas in house, and his menus incorporate dishes that adhere to true Italian cuisine, as well as unique ingredients and creative preparations such as black chickpeas, lime zest in a pasta dish, and white caponata. The Levante LIC Executive Pizzaiolo Francesco Perna leads his team to guest-favorite woodfired pizza excellence. They also offer a large range of dishes from their fresh burrata or their delicious grilled octopus to their exquisite pan-seared branzino – you won’t be disappointed!
