Why KFC Brought Back Popcorn Chicken
The crispy chicken bites, which originally debuted on KFC menus in the early 1990s, were removed in 2023. Their return follows persistent feedback from customers across various digital platforms.
According to Melissa Cash, Chief Marketing Officer of KFC U.S., the company’s decision was driven by the undeniable volume of consumer engagement:
- “For years, KFC has heard directly from fans clamoring for Popcorn Chicken’s return”.
- “We read every comment, every DM, and even every online petition signature, and the message was impossible to ignore”.
KFC social media teams hinted at the relaunch last week via a cryptic post on X, which spelled out “POPCORN CHICKEN” in capital letters within a larger message.
New Menu Options and Pricing
Popcorn Chicken is now available in three different meal formats. Please note that prices and availability may vary by location.
- $10 Popcorn Chicken Bucket: Includes 16 ounces of Popcorn Chicken with four dipping sauces.
- $10.99 Popcorn Chicken Big Box: Includes 6 ounces of Popcorn Chicken, two Original Recipe Tenders, a medium fry, a medium drink, two dipping sauces, and a chocolate chunk cookie.
- $8.49 Popcorn Chicken Combo: Includes 6 ounces of Popcorn Chicken, a medium fry, a medium drink, and one dipping sauce.
KFC has not yet specified how long the item will remain on the menu during this return.
